Product Description
The Dastmal Yazdi is a traditional accessory that is usually made of silk and nylon blends and is used for many purposes by men and women.
The Dastmal Yazdi is frequently donned by members of Ajam in live performances and music videos; usually for dancing, gesturing or absorbing perspiration.
This type of Dastmal (handkerchief/scarf) is most popular in the Iranian Central Plateau and the desert rim. As denoted by the name, it is often considered that this type of Dastmal originated from the city of Yazd but is also referred to as Dastmal Kashani and can be affiliated to many historical urban centres as well as rural and tribal traditions.
The dimensions of the small Dastmals are 46cm by 46cm, while the medium-sized Dastmals are 64cm by 64cm.
In order to achieve the typical soft and worn look the Dastmal should be washed, ringed, and dried frequently such as to gradually relax the fabric and thread structure.
